Dust & Decay (Benny Imura, #2)Dust & Decay by Jonathan Maberry

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was very excited to read this sequel to Rot & Ruin and Dust & Decay did not disappoint. I'm waiting for this series to catch on and take off. It should definitely be made into a movie. Benny and his friends along with brother Tom are off to find the jet that they saw fly overhead at the end of the first book. They don't make it far though. Charlie Pink Eye may be gone but his family is out for revenge and a bounty has been placed on Benny, Tom, Lilah, and Nix. Not only are they battling the Zoms but everyone and their mother is out looking for them. This book as plenty of action and though it can be quite violent and graphic, it didn't bother me, and I don't love gore. If you like zombie stories or just plain suspenseful storie then definitely read this.

The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1)The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Todd Hewitt is the last boy alive, at least in his town. In a town where all the women died, Todd is the only boy left in a world of men, there are no more children. Before he turns 13, the age at which he will be considered a man, Todd is sent away with one instruction, "Warn them". Everyone can hear everyone else's "noise" or thoughts but still Todd has no idea why he is being sent away though he discovers his town is hiding an evil secret.

I listened to this story and enjoyed it for the most part. It is set in the future as mankind settles another planet occupied by aliens. The aliens were conquered and the land was settled. The theme is similar to other books that are popular right now. The world is in distress and  evil comes to power. This book is the first in a trilogy and really serves as a set up for the rest of the series which I will eventually read but was not jumping to the next book like I was with Hunger Games.

Still, this is a good read for those who like adventure with a little bit of mystery and evil.
